...how the hell do you use items in this game? I've tried everything, and now I've turned to you guys for help.

Double-click the item in your inventory. If it's something like a keycard, double-click it in the inventory and single-click on the card reader you want to use.

Press tab to go into your inventory. Double click any item you want to use, and depending on the item, it will do different actions. For example, double clicking a piece of clothing like a gas mask will put on the gas mask. Double clicking a key card will have you holding it, click any keycard slot next to a door, and if you have a key card that's a high enough level, it will open the door. Double clicking on the healing kit will start to heal you. Double clicking on SCP 500-01 will completely heal you.
