In my experience, it's often been because of the thread slowly dying due to people posting multiple words at once that derail the story.

God i would have let you necropost on my one word story game thread if i knew this was going to go so horribly wrong.

You sort of do have to follow the rules of your own thread, hug, the game completely self-destroys if you don't. And it also causes rage.
