You might have noticed I've been absent from steam after I've come back from my vacation. It's because the god-damned program freezes my computer every time I open it. I signs me in, opens up the browser and 10 seconds later the computer freezes. No blue screen, mouse doesn't work, ctrl alt del doesn't work and requires a hard reset. Fucking sucks but it doesn't matter since I'm building my own computer soon. I'm so sad. :(

I have problems like this as well, where my computer just...locks up. I'm not sure if it's steam or not, but it's REALLY annoying.

It looks like your computer meets the system requirements for steam, sadly, i can't help you by telling you how to reset your dell, does your dell come with a cd drive?

anyway... just turn off notifications and steam docing and you should be fine until you get a new computer...

I disabled auto starting for it so now it won't crash. But it did freeze after about an hour of defrag. I think it might be missing thermal paste or something. I'll send it to a specialist if it ever randomly crashes. I'm getting a gaming rig soon so all is well.

Destructoid, go to C:\Program Files\Steam and delete all the contents, except for the SteamApps folder and Steam.exe.
Then just run Steam.exe and hope for the best.

The folder would be Program Files (x86) if you have 64-bit though.
