Re: Want to learn to make SCP games?

alot sparks =(

So you would need to make a set of minimum 3 levels, that contain different minigames, and program the AI so that you have opponents to play with you.
The building would choose a random level upon each entrance. Not to mention that each level has a damn theme! That's alot of artwork.

I think it's mostly the AI and multiplayer that would take the longest to perfect. Probably 3-6 MONTHS :shock:

And you can't even begin to work on the AI or multiplayer until all levels and minigames are done!

But damn this would be one hell of a game =)

And of course to finish it up, when you die or win, it will give a replay of how it went down inside, possibly with camera angels programmed for each course individually.
What fun is there in making sense?
Now, if you will excuse me i have some chaos to wreak.
Resident forum robot monkey, and chaos incarnate.

We are going for an example game.

So it should have a menu, be fully playable, and have an ending.

However textures/models don't have to be perfect, and we will work with what we got.
Sacrifices will be made to shorten the tutorial as much as possible while still teaching all critical features of Unity3d

We are looking for an SCP that isn't to hard to program/make so that the tutorial won't be thousands of videos long.

haha yeah, have you seen the other games section?

Full of people making a topics saying;

oh HEY GUISE IM MAKING GAME CALLED SCP: ___________

ITS REALLY ERLY ALPHA THO!

If these tutorials teach anything, hopefully it will at least teach the people who decide to make games the difference between Alpha builds and just prototypes.

So a mirror wouldn't look like it's supposed to.
Simple. Image Effects.

Who said anything about Free edition when the pirate bay exists?
JK, I don't do that. Anymore.... But I know some members chris0matic who would do such a thing to the new Unity 4.

Actually, I only made ONE, unlike formentioned member chris0matic. And that one was actually trying to get to a playable stage. But Unity doesn't agree with me on anything.

Alpha=Playable, but bare.
But yes, I do agree on you about that. I actually called my first SCP-087 devfolder PRE-ALPHA.

Perhaps SCP-087, Exploration IV; the one that was redacted. I know 087 has a game already, but one with an actual story and room for improvisation would be interesting. Also, maybe a customizable character (with options for voice, racial ethnicity, age, and background for + immersion) and choices to make throughout, like opting out of the experiment, or asking about the stairwell. I certainly think it could be interesting.

Edit: Didn't notice the idea of doing an SCP that's already been made into a game was so outlawed, I sorta thought it could work, since it's a bit different, but eh.
It slep time bunner.

@Peanut

image effects won't let you see yourself in a mirror, but sure it's good for an approximation of an environment.

I don't care if people want to pirate the damn thing really, but the tutorials I make wont be specific to them because we would get a smaller audience.

@Everyone

Video coming out soon (1-2 days)

It will be about the basics of game design and what you are going to need to download.

( this is a video you can skip if you already know and have everything I will mention later on. This wil be listed in a new thread.)
