Just because there are not new updates doesn't mean the game is dead. Regalis (the maker of the game) is doing army training or whatever, and he can't be as active on the game as before.
Also, only mods can make threads on the "Official news" forums.

To answer the OP's question, the game is far from dead, as stated above the games creator Regalis is currently serving a mandatory military service since his country does that. He still posts updates on this forum and the occasional game update but at a very slower rate.
Fortunately he will be back eventually.
