I need somebody from the UK for the best answer

I'm going to pre order GTA 5 in the next few weeks, after I pre order it, does it get delivered to my front door or do i take a receipt and collect it from the game shop?

Well, depends WHERE you order it If it's online at Amazon and the like they will deliver it.
Unless we're talking about something like Gamestop. Then you will have to get off your chair for that.

Pre-ordering it from a Store would require you to collect it. You would need your receipt.

Usually, A Store like GAME requires you to have a GAME Card Membership before you can preorder.
