the only canon is the article. Anything else can be canon or not, completely at the reader choice, that's how the foundation works.
Also the writer of the 173 article was not the writer of any of the tales.
Nothing of the game can be considered true canon, it's this forum and regalis spin on it. Here we try to stick to the articles or references to the tales, but there are many things not specified on the articles, The Allmighty Regalis and this comunity try to fill that with interpretations of the available material. The head movement exist because in the image of the article the head is looking at the camera, and many people intreprets this as that 173 is capable of turning its head(i like this interpretation). So you can't use the game as a proof of anything.
There is no true canon about how 173 breaks necks. Pick the tale of your choice, or make a guess that does not contradic the article and tale you consider to be canon. But unless you find the original writer of 173, this discussion is fairly pointless.
